BEWARE OF PENSKE, ESPECIALLY FOR ONE-WAY RENTALS! THIS IS SO UNHEARD OF - I WILL TAKE THIS TO THE MEDIA, THE COURTROOM, AND MAKE AS MANY PEOPLE WORLDWIDE AWARE OF THIS NEGLIGENT GLOBAL CORPORATION'S LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM, HONESTY, RESPECT FOR THE LAW, AND RESPECT FOR HUMAN LIFE.

I MADE A CASH RESERVATION FOR A ONE-WAY RENTAL WITH THE OWNER OF THEIR MAPLEWOOD, NJ BRANCH - HIS NAME IS "GIL". THE DAY OF PICK-UP, GIL WAS NOT IN AND "BEN" DID THE TRANSACTION. FIRSTLY, BEN CLAIMED HE COULDN'T FIND THE RESERVATION AND HAD TO "CREATE A NEW ONE" IN THE SYSTEM. HE THEN PROCEEDED TO TAKE MY $1,411.16 IN CASH, CHARGED MY DEBIT CARD FOR THE SAME AMOUNT AFTER I WAS TOLD THAT ONLY $100 DEPOSIT ON A CREDIT/DEBIT CARD IS REQUIRED WHEN PAYING IN CASH. - IN OTHER WORDS, "BEN" GOT MY MONEY TWICE, AND DEBIT FOR $1,411.16 WAS UNAUTHORIZED BY ME. THEY ARE COMPLETELY BREAKING THE LAW!!!!

THE 16' TRUCK RENTED WAS DRIVEN FOR LESS THAN 2 HOURS ON THE TRIP, THEN I PULLED OVER TO A REST AREA BECAUSE MY FIANCEE WAS FOLLOWING BEHIND ME AND NEEDED A BREAK. SUDDENLY, THE TIRE WENT COMPLETELY FLAT. WE CALLED PENSKE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AROUND 2:30AM, AND IT TOOK 6 HRS FOR REPAIR TO OCCUR AND BE COMPLETED. IT TOOK HOURS AND SEVERAL LENGTHY PHONE CALLS TO GET SERVICE AT ALL. PENSKE GUARANTEES 30-90 MIN. MAX WAITING TIME. THEY NOT ONLY TOLD US A SERVICEMAN THEY CONTRACTED WAS ON HIS WAY, BUT HE THEN RENEGED AND TOLD PENSKE HE WAS NOT COMING TO HELP ME. THEN A 2ND MECHANIC HAD TO BE REACHED DISPATCHED, AND DID NOT COME UNTIL AFTER 7AM, 4+ HRS WAIT TIME! PENSKE REP WITH ROADSIDE DEPT THEN STATED THAT I WILL BE REFUNDED FOR MY CASH TRANSACTION UPON RETURN OF THE TRUCK, AND EXTENDED THE RENTAL BY 24 HRS FOR THE PROBLEMS I EXPERIENCED---BUT NOT UNTIL APPROX 9:30AM WAS I ABLE TO GET BACK ON THE ROAD FOR MY INTRASTATE TRIP. ***THE MECHANIC NOT ONLY STATED THAT ALL 4 VALVE STEMS WERE SEVERELY LOOSE, BUT THE TIRES WERE LOSING PRESSURE AS I WAS DRIVING UNBEKNOWNST TO ME. I COULD'VE EASILY BEEN KILLED.*** THIS WAS A NEW TRUCK, ONLY 386 MILES ON IT AND IT WAS RENTED OUT TWICE BEFORE ME. THE MECHANIC TOOK PHOTOS BECAUSE HE WAS IN DISBELIEF, STATING HE NEVER SAW THIS IN HIS LIFE IN THE INDUSTRY, WHERE ALL 4 STEMS WERE LOOSE (OR COMING LOOSE) AND 1 NEEDED REPLACING. THERE WAS NO FLAT TIRE OR TIRE REPLACED - THE LOSS OF AIR WAS THE REASON FOR THE TIRE'S FLATTENING!!!!

UPON RETURNING THE TRUCK A WEEK LATER AFTER SEVERE DELAYS AND EXTRA MONEY SPENT ON HOTELS, MEDICAL ISSUES THAT WERE AFFECTED, AND MY FIANCEE WITH HER 15-1/2 YEAR OLD DOG FOLLOWING IN HER CAR WERE BOTH DEEPLY AFFECTED BY THIS AS WELL - I TURNED IN THE TRUCK TO PENSKE IN POMPANO BEACH, FL - TO THEN FIND OUT MY DEBIT CARD WAS CHARGED THE SAME AMOUNT I PAID IN CASH! WE CALLED ON SPEAKER PHONE WITH THE FLORIDA REPS TO SPEAK TO GIL, THE OWNER IN NJ, AND HE LITERALLY LAUGHED AT US. HE WAS THE MOST OFFENSIVE PERSON I HAVE DEALT WITH THUS FAR. HE ALSO STATED THAT IT IS "IMPOSSIBLE" FOR ALL 4 VALVE STEMS TO HAVE BEEN LOOSE AND REFUSED TO HEAR US OUT ABOUT THE VEHICLE OR THE CASH THEFT BY BEN.

HOWEVER, IN WRITING ON THE ROADSIDE INVOICE, THE MECHANIC SPECIFIED THE PROBLEMS AND THE FACT THAT ALL 4 NEEDED TIGHTENING, AS WELL AS ONE NEEDED REPLACEMENT ALTOGETHER. - ***SEE PHOTOS, DETAILED INVOICE IS NOT SHOWN FOR PRIVACY REASONS***

AFTER DEALING WITH PENSKE REPS AND SO-CALLED MANAGERS FOR 3 WEEKS AND BEING GIVEN THE RUNAROUND, ALSO THEN SPEAKING TO THEIR CORPORATE HQ IN READING, PA - THE DIRECTOR OF SECURITY, RAY ZALE AND HIS SUPERVISOR, DREW S. POLENTI, SHUT DOWN ANY TYPE OF POSSIBILITY THAT THEIR REP STOLE MY CASH, AND MR. POLENTI ALSO STATED THAT IT IS "IMPOSSIBLE" FOR ALL 4 STEMS TO HAVE BEEN LOOSE, INDIRECTLY IMPLYING THAT I OR SOMEONE I KNOW TAMPERED WITH THE TRUCK! IT SEEMS PENSKE IS TAUGHT TO USE THE WORD "IMPOSSIBLE" QUITE OFTEN.

DO NOT USE PENSKE OR ITS AFFILIATES!!! THE OWNER IN READING, PA AND OTHER OFFICERS OF THE CORPORATION WERE MADE AWARE OF THIS SITUATION ALSO, AND HAVE COMPLETELY IGNORED MY REQUEST FOR COMPENSATION AT THE VERY LEAST FOR THE THEFT OF MY CASH - THEY THINK THEY CAN POLICE THEIR OWN ACTIONS WITHOUT RECOURSE. NO LONGER AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED! HERE ARE THE ADDITIONAL NAMES:

I AM PRESSING CRIMINAL CHARGES ON THEIR MAPLEWOOD, NJ REP THAT STOLE MY CASH, AS WELL AS CIVIL/CRIMINAL CLAIMS VS. PENSKE ITSELF FOR THE RETURN OF MY MONEY AND OTHER DAMAGES I WILL NOT MENTION.

Reason of review: Problems with payment.

Monetary Loss: $3500.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Penske Truck Rental Cons: Entire experience, Thievery of my cash for the rental, No customer service, Lies about the danger of the conditions of the truck.

I rented from Penske this past summer. I drove from Ft.

Wayne Indiana to Decatur Ga. with not problem. Cost me a little over 550.00. The only issue was the drop off at Home Depot.

The Counter person was a jerk in Ga. He was awesome in Indiana. No issues with the truck.

everything was up to date. I even used my IPHONE for music with the plug in.

They are taking me to Civil Court for having to pay 7,000+ and threatened me to with the local Police to issue a warrant for my arrest I asked for a payment plan because I know there is no chance in *** for me to pay all that at once. The Police officer was making comments about how he couldn't even pay it.

I don't really have a job I have been trying and I only get SSI. I wonder how this will turn out.

You're in good company when it comes to people Penske has caused problems for. Consider yourself lucky as some have been injured while using their equipment.

You got a receipt for total $ accepted by the renting location at the time of rental?

How much does this receipt show as a $ amount?

The best was to leave and go elsewhere when you ran into problems with the rental, but you did not.

If you had used your card as credit, then you had recourse through your bank to dispute.

Not posting copies of the paperwork due to "privacy concerns" raises red flags in your story.

Many others have obliterated the personal info so all could see the supposed details being referred to. You declining to do so, raises doubt as to the accuracy of your story.

You don't even know that there may be other derails not mentioned here. So DON'T JUDGE OR ASSUME you have any idea what he should or should not have done!! And just because "BEN" couldn't find his transaction doesn't mean "he ran into a problem" as you say. That could simply be a computer or human error.

You made no sense and CLEARLY didn't think thru or consider this man's situation or inconvenience before you completely passed judgement on him and his "story".

Disgusted.......thinking about what people like you are thinking when you behave or think this way!! I feel sorry for you......really, I do.

MY RECEIPT SAID DEBIT CARD WAS USED NOT ONLY FOR THE $100 DEPOSIT BUT THE ENTIRE AMOUNT, AS WELL AS THE $ HE TOOK IN CASH FROM US (FULL AMOUNT). I PAID TWICE BECAUSE THEY RAN THE CARD AFTER MY DEPARTURE!

HE IS A THIEF THAT PURPOSELY BROUGHT US TO THE BACK OFFICE WHICH HAS NO SURVEILLANCE CAMERA PRESENT ACCORDING TO CORPORATE OFFICE INVESTIGATORS. IF I DON'T WANT TO POST PAPERWORK, THAT'S MY PREROGATIVE!! WHY ARE YOU ANONYMOUS MR.

Your so concerned with "privicy issues" but you need to realize that if you are going after them in court all documents are now public record. If the truck had air brakes you are required to have a CDL to drive it (most of theirs do).

If you had a CDL as required to by law, you would of known your are also required to do a proper pre-trip inspection on the truck prior to driving it (its federal law not state law, so I dont want to hear its different in NJ). If you would have done a proper and legally required pre-trip inspection on the truck you would of found the issues with the tires and valve stems. Sounds like your not legal to even drive the truck, and had problems that you wouldnt of had if you were legal, and now your mad about it. If you did also get charged and paid in cash you should have no problem taking it to your bank and saying you were double charged, and showing them the cash reciept.

They would reimburse (reverse) your debit card charge, unless you signed the credit card reciept for the full amount to and they did not put on the reciept that you paid cash as well, in which case, its your own fault for not reading what you signed.

You stated that you are pressing criminal charges against penske, news flash, criminal charges can only be placed against a person, not a company. Sounds like your just a all around IDIOT

You don't have to have a CDL to drive their trucks, CDL is for vehicles over 26000lbs. Check your facts bro before you spout off drivell.

No sir! They rate their trucks at 25,999, even with air brakes to get under the federal laws! That means they will let ANYONE WITH A LICENSE drive these vehicles!

Thanks for the info. My son uses rental trucks for his video business.

Will let him know of your problems with Penske. We live in the PA area. He uses Uhaul or Budget. Hope you get things resolved.

My husband & I had a similar problem with Enterprise in this area. That franchise is no longer in business.
